Abstract

In this study, the life, ideas, and entrepreneurship of Park Tae-joon were examined. Through this, the following conclusions were drawn. His life gave him a unique characteristic that is different from many entrepreneurs in modern Korean history. Its unique characteristic is that his ‘spirit of patriotism’ is deeply ingrained in his management and life. His spirit of patriotism has two main branches: Patriotism by steel and Patriotism by education. For Park, 'Patriotism by steel' was a combination of corporate management ideology, and 'Patriotism by education' was a combination of educational ideology. In addition, he cultivated human resources with a sense of vocation and improved the corporate management environment by innovating organization and management. He also improved the conditions of the domestic steel industry by drawing various cooperations with the Japanese government in the steel industry. In addition, he pioneered overseas markets to improve corporate management performance. In addition, he increased the international competitiveness of the Korean steel industry by improving productivity such as construction period and shortening the working period. It is natural for companies to pursue their own interests. For him, however, business was not just a place to pursue private interests, but a place to serve the country. Historical evaluations may vary, but his management philosophy, which has created global companies in a desperate environment, has great implications for current managers who have to overcome numerous economic risks.
