Abstract

As a beneficial use of waste stone sludge the applicability as a starting material for machinable mica-glass composites has been investigated. the waste is mixed with MgO, KF, am-Al_2O_3, and H_3BO_3 to adjust the chemical composition for machinable K-aluminoborosilicate glass/F-phlogopite composite (1:1). Mica can be synthesized by the heat-treatment of the starting mixture at 10000℃. At 1025℃, KAlSiO_4 crystallized in addition to mica. Dense materials can be sintered from the powder calcined at 1200℃. The bending strength, elastic modulus, Vickers hardness, 60MPa, 44MPa, 412MPa, respectively, while mica content decreases at 1200℃.
