Abstract
In this article, we consider the linguopragmatic essence of terror, explain its communicative potential as an element of a sign system, and present both the sociopolitical and linguistic typology of this concept. The author analyzes the «terror» lexeme from the positions of syntagmatics, pragmatics and derivatives.
