Abstract

An optically pumped cw Hg laser at 546.1 nm has been constructed. For Hg lamps as an optical pumping source, dependences of light intensities of 235.7 and 404.7 nm lines on pressure of carrier gases GAT and( Ar-Ne mixture), discharge current and lamp diameter (i. d. 10 and 4 mm) are investigated. For a Hg laser tube, dependences of laser output on pressure of N2 as a quenching gas and temperature of Hg bath are studied. Detuning curves at single mode operation are obtained and these are useful for frequency stabilization of this laser.
