Abstract

The article analyzes the image of the city as a speculative model of a regularly organized place and an ordered way of life. At the center of the consideration is the image of a non-existent city, which is examined using the example of a “transcendental” city and a “utopian city”. Studying the images of Heavenly Jerusalem, Christianopolis, the City of the Sun and Amaurot allows us to establish the parameters of social reality, which are reflected in the speculative models of these cities. The author comes to the conclusion that the image of the city, which does not exist, allows us to understand the specificity of the image of the city as the utmost detail of the material side of urban space.
