Abstract

The article deals with the theoretical foundations of the study of metaphor as one of the mechanisms of the knowledge of the world and as a component of the entire linguistic picture of the world. The analysis of the theoretical aspects of the metaphor allows us to penetrate more deeply into the essence of this phenomenon and consider it as one of the ways of representing the accumulated knowledge by man, ways to reveal the relationship between objects studies of different sciences. The metaphor is taught as one of the main ways of creating the figurative meaning of the word, as a change in the meaning of the language. units and the development of linguistic semantics; as one of the general principles of the nomination; as one of the tropes; as a cognitive process, method of worldview; as a way of modeling the world and creating a linguistic picture of the world. The article draws attention to the fact that the scientific study of this problem involves the study of poetic, linguistic and verbal metaphors; associative representations, anthropocentric approach to language learning; the contrast between myth and metaphor; the formation of an expressive, appreciating character of the metaphor and its semantic features.
