Abstract

Cu/Co/Cu/NiFe multilayers were prepared by molecular beam epitaxy in a magnetic field of about 180 Oe. The linear region of the MR profile at around zero field for Cr(50A)[Cu(50A)/Co(10A)/Cu(50A)/NiFe(10A)]×10 directly corresponds to the magnetization curve for Cr(50A)[Cu(50A) /NiFe(10A)]×20. The MR ratios and MR slopes were increased by the effect of magnetic fields during deposition, because of the improvement of the soft magnetic properties in the NiFe layers. Improved thermal stabilities were also realized, especially in MR slopes, by the effect of magnetic fields during deposition.
