Abstract

Relevance and goals. A significant role in the national wealth of any state is its human capital. It follows from this that the study and clarification of the role of man in the modern economy is relevant and has not lost its importance for a long time. The purpose of this article is to describe the evolution of human capital, as well as to identify the essence and formulation of this economic category. Materials and methods. To write this article, using a historical approach, the works of economists of classical economic theory and the theory of human capital were analyzed. Results. The author examines the evolution of scientific views and ideas about human capital, identifies the prerequisites for the creation of the theory of human capital and its further development. The research of economists who have made the greatest contribution to the study of this economic category has been studied. Conclusions. The concepts of human capital have been significantly studied, developed and refined by various economists, which resulted in the emergence of the theory of human capital. With the advent of a new era of the post-industrial and information world, the role of human in the new economic realities will also be rethought.
