Abstract

7-n-Butylamino-7-phenyl-8-thioxo-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6-hexa thiocane(BPTH) derivative has been prepared by treating p-substituted acetophenon, n-butyl or n-propyl amine and sulfur. The vulcanization in the presence of BPTH has been investigated for examining the ability of BPTH as valcanizing agent for NR, CR and halogen containg rubber, as compared to commomly used vulcanizing agents. BPTH was found to give good vulcanized rubber without using any vulcanization acceleators. The apparent characteristic feature of the vulcanization is disulfide type crosslinking and low free sulfur. For CR the apparent charactristic feature of the vulcanization has good heat resistance as well as EU and effect of substitute by active parameter did not find. But crosslinking was found to occur at thio-keton base and cyclohexasulfide base. More, BPTH was found to be effective as vulcanizing agent for CO, CM, ACM.
