Methods The data were collected and classified into four categories: publication year, research method, participant, and research findings.
Results The results proved that the number of anxiety research gradually increased, particularly during the recent ten years. The majority of participants were university students. Quantitative methods were the most dominant research method, with a noticeable increase of mixed methods research in recent years. Regarding research findings, A total of 65 articles reported major factors of decreasing anxiety; 47 reported specific anxiety constructs; 20 reported the relationship between anxiety and English proficiency; 5 reported other findings.
Conclusions The study implies the need to apply research findings to alleviate Korean learners’ anxiety and facilitate their English acquisition.
