Abstract

The paper aims to reveal sub-regional peculiarities of Omsk clerical community formation under conditions of modernization (the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century). Special attention is paid to analysing influence of modernization factors (Russia’s colonial policy in remote regions, peasant resettlement to the Trans-Ural region) on clerical life in newly established Omsk eparchy. Scientific originality of the study involves identifying features of Omsk clerical community acquired as a result of modernization processes. Relying on the conducted analysis, the author identifies and describes typical features of Omsk clergy: poor material situation, low educational level, readiness of some clergymen for changes in the parochial administration system under the new socio-economic and political situation.
