Abstract

The research objectives are as follows: to summarize literary critics’ views on the Scottish immigration poetry in the USA in the XIX century, to identify the basic vectors of literary-critical activity: immigration and “metropolis”. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author classifies literary-critical trends and provides a comprehensive analysis of the Scottish immigration poetry discourse in the context of literary criticism. The findings indicate that the Scottish and American “metropolis” literary criticism neglected the Scottish immigration poetry of the XIX century. Literary criticism of the Scottish émigré poets is represented by the Scottish émigré critics.
