Abstract

Homeland and State are two greatest historical achievements of nations. It would be ideal if those two realities were identical in content and scope. However, such identification is almost impossible. Both the State and the Homeland require great love, devotion and a sense of the “Owner”. Without that feeling, not only "the garden and the mill", as Hr. Matevosyan used to say, but also the State and the Homeland are destroyed. Exactly a hundred years ago, the state of Armenia and the Armenian people faced almost the same political problems as today. At that time, blinded by the Treaty of Sevres, we refused the benevolent hand offered by Russia, which later fell like a fist on the head of our people and state. This resulted in the loss of a significant part of our historical homeland. Today we find ourselves in the same situation. Before the possibility of changing the political vector due to the uncertain promises of the West, there is a real threat of losing Armenian statehood. According to the author, this is primarily because we lack the attitude of an owner towards the State and the Homeland.
