Abstract

The periodical, the “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda” newspaper is one of the informative sources on Soviet childhood, the study of which was actualized within the framework of the history of everyday life. The newspaper, being the main printed organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, reflected in its publications the state policy on current events, including in the field of childhood. Analyzing the content of children’s topics in the publication, we come to the conclusion that most of it is associated with the education system, achievements and existing problems in the context of reforms with the transfer to eight and eleven years of education. Also, this topic has traditionally received coverage for the following dates: Day of Knowledge, International Children’s Day, New Year’s Eve holidays. Statistical data in the annual section on the results of the implementation of the state plan for the development of the national economy in the section on improving the material well-being and cultural standard of living of the people, allow us to trace the dynamics of changes in the field of education. Of course, the newspaper reflected the point of view of the central government, but by studying its content, one can study the influence of state policy on the institution of childhood.
