Abstract

The paper reflects the authors’ definition of Industry 4.0 bringing together all its key distinctive features underlined in the framework of diverse conceptual approaches. According to this definition, Industry 4.0 is a process of modernizing the economy using the latest ICT (such as the IoT) together with networkization and integration for the better manufacture and distribution processes through ensuring their individualization, interactivity and high resource efficiency. The authors have developed a framework strategy for the formation of Industry 4.0 in the today’s Russia. The subjects of its practical implementation are the government and businesses. The strategy is rolled out through the mechanisms of public-private partnerships, risk management and integration of entrepreneurship. The anticipated outcomes of practical implementation of the developed strategy include better levels and people’s quality of life, global competitiveness of the Russian economy and national economic security (preventing dependency on imports) in the long term.
