Introduction : This study compared the traditional manufacturing method with the 3D printing method for splints(orthosis). Main point : The process of making splints traditionally by occupational therapists and another process using 3D printing method was investigated. The printing method, the materials used, and the method of measuring body structure were also examined. This study found the limitations of the traditional manufacturing method and the advantages and disadvantages of 3D printing method. To adapt the 3D printing method for splint in clinical practice, those disadvantages need to be solved. Conclusion : As the importance of 3D printing technology is highlighted in the field of rehabilitation, its use in the field of occupational therapy will be necessary. Efforts will be needed to educate on traditional manufacturing method for splints as well as introduce new technology suitable for recent clinical practice into occupational therapy education curriculum.
