Abstract

Breeders of the Federal Center of Agriculture Research of the South-East Region developed a promising sunflower cultivar Saratovsky 21. The vegetative period is 92–95 days. Over the years of the study according to the method of the competitive variety testing, the seed and oil yields of the cultivar Saratovsky 21 exceeded the standard cultivar Skorospely 87 by 0.3 t/ha and 0.2 t/ha, respectively. It also exceeded the cultivar Saratovsky 20 in terms of yield and oil yield by 0.1 t/ha. Cultivar Saratovsky 21 is included into the State Register of Breeding Achievements in 2023 and approved for production in the Low Volga (8th) region.
