Abstract
The third part of the study, devoted to the decree of the Egyptian priests, adopted in Memphis in 196 BC. The main historical source for the event is the famous Rosetta stone. Its inscription became a clue to deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphic script, started by J.-F. Champollion. The document is one of the most important writing sources on social and political history of Ptolemy’s V rule; translated from ancient Egyptian into Russian it is published for the first time. A full author’s translation of the hieroglyphic and demotic versions of the text available on two main sources is presented.
