Abstract

The article presents a creative and biographical portrait of one of the forgotten representatives of Kabardian literature of the early Soviet period – poet and publicist L.G. Afashagov. Based on ar-chival sources, the history of his public activities has been reconstructed. The main directions of his work are tracked using art materials and journals, and the value accents of his works, mostly poems, which exist both original and in translation, are disclosed. The segment of the biography that covers the war years has been expanded. The reasons for his arrest have been clarified using archived information that has not before been made public. An outline of the biography of one of the KBASSR's educational figures, L.G. Afashagov's wife, F.N. Afashagova (Keyserman). New information on L.G. Afashagov's life and work has been published in scientific journals.
