Abstract

The content of the technique of the unknown perpetrator's psychological profile construction is that on the basis of the data presented FBI employees, specializing in drawing up psychological profiles, make a description of the offender, which shall include estimated socio-biological characteristics. This information is set as follows: the results of the inspection of the scene determine the purpose of committing the crime; the analysis of the content of the purpose determines the motive of the crime; the genesis and nature of the motif are traced (the motif indicates needs, needs indicate the psychological properties of the offender); modeled personality traits lead researchers to the forms of their realization in the person who committed the offense in the micro-social sphere (family, work, social status, habitual patterns of behavior, typical role reactions), which is the direct search profile, the construction of which becomes the most important task of profiling; identified personality traits are related to typical models of individual groups of criminals, whose existence is mentioned in the national forensic science. Unidentified properties with high probability will be identical to the corresponding characteristics of a particular type of serial criminals. The typology of serial killers in this way is not just a necessary element of forensic knowledge of the crime system, but a substantial element of practical application of forensic knowledge. Thus, the completeness and validity of the classification of serial killers used will determine the final stage of a serial killer's profile construction. Unfortunately, the existing classifications of serial killers do not allow to fully disclose the specifics of the mechanism of committing crimes by serial killers and, subsequently, to determine the typical material traces of the crime, specific to each type of serial killers. Therefore, in order to fill this gap, it is necessary to consider the identity of a serial killer in the framework of a dual classification, i.e. combine the classification by the factor of organization (as most applicable) and the classification by the orientation of the motivation of serial killers (as most explanatory). As a result of this synthesis, the process of using the biographical method and independent characteristics of the method of analysis the following types of serial killers have been identified: organized hedonist; disorganized hedonist; organized hunter; disorganized hunter; organized missionary; disorganized missionary.
