Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of basketball related training on the improvement of specific physical fitness and functional fitness of elite basketball athletes, and suggest training methods that can improve the specific physical fitness and functional fitness more effectively for basketball leaders and athletes. training program reshaped the core training such as plyometric training which enhances agility and instant reaction that have a great impact on basketball performance, muscular strength, and balance which trains core muscle based on the purpose of the study and the intent.BR To investigate the difference in lower extremity muscle strength, basketball specialty fitness and functional fitness after the program, 12 male basketball players with no medical impairment and pain were selected from M university. Assessment of physical fitness showed a critical improvement in both left and right lower limb extension and flection muscle strength (p.001). The betterment of the left and right lower limb extension and flection muscle strength resulted in a significant progress in the average power and total quantity of motion, % BW (p.001). Statistically, there were also noticeable improvements observed in the records of back muscle strength, instant reaction, agility, and muscle endurance which are basketball specialty fitness and also in the record of sit and reach and trunk extension which are part of basketball function fitness (p.001). These results suggest that the BPT program will help improve the specific fitness and functional fitness of basketball players. In order to improve those traits for each sports, training programs should be organized with each sport’s characteristics and intent of the training. Therefore, in the subsequent research, it is necessary to clearly classify the specific physical fitness and functional fitness for each sport to design a measurement that can measure the dynamic fitness required for exercising the skill and the function together with the specificity of the sport.
