Abstract

Researchers have different opinions about the duration of election campaigns. Some scholars believe that the campaign period should be long enough because of the importance of voters' right to know, to make their choice, and for candidates to introduce themselves to voters. However, some researchers believe that too long campaign period has negative aspects such as annoying the voters, demanding more financial expenses from the candidates, and reducing government activities. According to the document research, countries around the world have implemented election campaign periods in different ways in the 20th century. Majority countries have a lead time of 30-50 days. It is common for the law to prohibit any advertising from 24 to 48 hours before election day.
