Abstract

Jinju Nongaeje is characterized by being a 'living heritage' and 'ecosystem of memory' that has been passed down through the history of 430 years since the Imjin War. Jinju Nongae Festival is a memorial ceremony to commemorate Uigi Nongae, and it retains the festive tradition of Pungryuje, which consists of songs and dances.
Inheritance, regardless of its form and content, is ultimately meaningful only as long as it provides useful guidelines for our lives in the present. Here, the issue of the subject who enjoys the heritage is raised. It is a historical fact that the non-gae system has functioned as a spoil of the ruling power from time to time, even though it is not the exclusive property of the ruling power.
In this regard, it is important to release the festival legacy from the relationship with the ruling power and return it to the majority. This is the reason why people who are still discriminated and marginalized, not the entire abstract nation, should be the subject and enjoy it. Jinju Nongae Festival is the spirit and asset of the festival that should not be missed. The re lies the future of Jinju, the open city of cre ativity.
