Abstract

Currently, vertebrogenic dyskinesias of various nature are widespread in urban dogs. Among them, there are often herniated discs associated with degenerative processes in various parts of the spinal column in dogs. The article discusses different types of intervertebral disc disease in animals of different breeds and ages, analyzes the frequency of their occurrence, considers the breed characteristics of the distribution of certain pathologies of the spine, topical features of herniated intervertebral discs of various types, as well as risk factors for discopathy in dogs. Among the animals studied, intervertebral disc disease Hansen Type 1 and Hansen Type 2 was more common in dogs of chondrodystrophic breeds (dachshund and French bulldog) and in dogs of large breeds (German shepherd and mestizos). Animals of the older age group are more prone to vertebrogenic dyskinesias. Intervertebral disc injuries were more common in the most mobile parts of the spine, and overweight animals were especially susceptible to them.
