Abstract
The article examines the historical possibility of reconstructing the phenomenon of a Soviet man. The analysis of this phenomenon is offered in two aspects – ideological and real-historical. From an ideological point of view, a Soviet person is presented as an ideological project, the expected result of the formation of the Soviet state. This ideology had its own history and is linked to the processes that led to the formation of the real Soviet man – as a certain set of attitudes that manifest themselves in the daily behaviour of Soviet people. However, the real-historical phenomenon of the Soviet person does not coincide with his ideological model. The author believes that studies of the phenomenon of Soviet man make it possible to speak of the impossibility of its reconstruction, since it would mean the reconstruction of those socio-economic and political conditions that brought it to life. At the same time, empirical studies of post-Soviet society indicate that a number of traits of the Soviet person continue to be reproduced in modern conditions, which is of scientific interest and affects the development of the Russian state and society.
