Abstract

By examining the divide among the Five Basic Tastes inherent in the Yin- Yang-five elements theory, we tried to identify the characteristics of the symbolism of Mokhaeng (sour), Hwahaeeng (bitter), Tohaeng (sweet), Geumhaeng (spicy), and Haeng (salty). The theoretical background of Omigwan is the misconception and thought, and five basic tastes was formed in a vigorous season by climate change, the concept of time. The influence on the human body is extended from negative inhalation and positive discharge functions to the five intestines in the human body, and a balanced control method was preceded because substrate tendencies such as accumulated omi could be a side effect. It was confirmed that the utility form became the universality of the five basic tastes due to changes in physical properties between the conflicting tendencies of the divide among the five basic tastes.
