Abstract
This study verified the mediating effect to reveal the interrelationship between empathy,emotional control, and community consciousness that mediates the relationship in the path ofoverprotective parenting leading to school violence. To this end, data were collected from 313middle school students in Daegu and verified through SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. The analysisresults showed that, first, overprotective parenting attitudes lowered empathy and communityconsciousness, and increased school violence. Second, in the relationship betweenoverprotective parenting attitude and school violence bystander, each variable of empathy,emotional control ability, and community consciousness was found to have no significantinfluence as simple parameters. Third, it was found that overprotective parenting attitudes hada significant influence on school violence by sequentially mediating empathy, emotional control,and community consciousness. Based on the above results, discussions and implications werepresented.
