Abstract
There has been a necessity of studies on the value and practicality of beauty-related patents in a real world.
Therefore, this study attempted to improve the percentage of patent evaluation in the conditions for the document screening needed to choose Korean beauty masters and classify patent, design and utility model registrations and make suggestions, focusing on 10 Korean beauty masters. Among numerous patents registered at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), those whose information is disclosed online were analyzed. Then, the percentage of the evaluation of patent and design registrations and its necessity were investigated. Among the 10 Korean beauty masters’ intellectual property rights, a total of 57 patents, designs and utility models were examined. Specifically, hair-related cases (42 registrations) were the highest, followed by tool-related cases (10 registrations), cosmetics (4 registrations) and others (1 registration). According to the document screening, ‘sharing of skills’ was 22%, and patents, utility models, books and academic papers were 12 points.
In fact, it accounts for a great portion because a point is given per achievement.
