Abstract

This study was conducted to grasp the regular participation of short stature in regular physical activity and the constraint of exercise participation for everyday health care, and analyzed 36 patients with rare incurable disease related to short stature, and the results are as follows: This study was conducted to grasp the regular participation of short stature in regular physical activity and the constraint of exercise participation for everyday health care, and analyzed 36 patients with rare incurable disease related to short stature, and the results are as follows: 1. As a result of analyzing whether or not they participate in physical activity, 76.5% of men and 52% of women responded they participated regularly. 2. As a result of analyzing the likeability of physical activity, 76% of men and 63.2% of women liked physical activity. As a result of analyzing the constraint factors of physical activity, 8 men(14.6%) responded ‘due to no relevant facility,’ followed by 7 men(12.7%), ‘due to severe disability’ and 7 men(12.7%), due to ‘fear of aggravating disability,’ respectively. 9 women(13.9%) responded ‘due to no special leader for the disabled,’ followed by 7(10.8%) responded due to ‘no program they want,’ 7(10.8%) due to ‘not know relevant information,’ and 7(10.8%) due to ‘no relevant facility around,’ respectively. The results showed that to revitalize the physical activity of Korean short stature people, facilities for physical activities, special leaders for the disabled, physical activity program promotion, etc. are needed, and also that systematic considerations and supports for eliminating social prejudices against short stature are important.
