Abstract
In the context of global transformational changes, external pressures and threats, it is extremely important to be able independently formulate strategies for the development of our own social system, using Ukrainian intellectual potential. In particular, it is about shaping the ability to think in strategic categories: not only to predict the development of certain events for decades to come, but also to see the specific place of each Ukrainian and the Ukrainian nation as a whole in the process of state and national formation, as an actor and active subject of international relations.In these circumstances, education and intellectual leadership play a key role in the social development of any country. Intellectual leadership should become one of the national interests, which will allow, with the help of its own intellectual resource, to form a sustainable basis for independent creation of its own strategy aimed at the effective development of the Ukrainian nation. For the domestic education system, it is especially important to create universities that are able to exert transformational influence on the internal and external environment of the country.The object of the article is to analyze the psychological nature and performance of the intellectual leadership of universities in the global economy.Methodological basis of the research was cognitive theory, theory of valuable leadership, theory of organizational and transformational leadership, the concept of technological structure, the concept of informational society, the concept of "knowledge-based economy".The article attempts to psychologically understand the problem of intellectual leadership in the management and development of universities. The essence of intellectual leadership, its performance, the main determinants of formation are characterized. The world practice of university functioning, main indicators and ratings of universities are analyzed, which confirms the importance of intellectual resources in educational organizations. The main indicators are used to evaluate the effective realization of intellectual leadership.The prospect of further research in this area may be to identify the factors and mechanisms for achieving leadership through the accumulation and realization of intellectual resources, the problem of implementation and development of intellectual leadership in educational institutions.
