Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the influence factors on the attitude of the advance medical directives by identifying the knowledge, attitude about advanced medical directives and biomedical ethics awareness among nursing students. The study was conducted using descriptive survey, among 193 nursing students from June 14 to 30, 2021. Responses were analyzed using SPSS WIN 25.0. Students’ knowledge, attitudes of the advance medical directives and biomedical ethics awareness were measured using a structured self-report questionnaires. Influencing factors emerged in the order of knowledge, biomedical ethics awareness, and legal knowledge on life-sustaining care advanced medical directives with an explanatory power of 38.1%. The results of this study provide basic data for developing an educational program to increase the knowledge of advance directives on life-sustaining health care and biomedical ethics awareness in order to cultivate attitudes toward advanced life-sustaining medical care among nursing students.
