Abstract

Recently, the U.S. and China have been pursuing a strong-to-strong confrontation without any concessions over the issues of human rights·freedom·democracy, issues of fair trade, issues of North Korea's denuclearization, and issues of hegemony in the South and East China Seas. This confrontation between the U.S. and China has a significant impact on the diplomatic choices of Korea and Japan, which are closely related to these countries in terms of politics, economy, and security, but there are subtle differences in trends and choices between Korea and Japan.
Accordingly, this study investigates the multi-layered aspects of the conflict between the U.S. and China and at the same time analyzes trends and influences on foreign policy decisions in Korea and Japan.
