Abstract

This paper focuses on extending the awareness of the contemporary dietary culture and verisimilar life by contemplating how Chinese poetry bears extreme poverty in it.
 First of all, traditional dining manner and its standpoint on dining have them that just eating boiled rice is not only pursuing some psychological values and sharing emotions based on traditional courtesy(禮), but also a way of highlighting the dining manner that requires to consider ‘other’ thoughtfully.
 Furthermore, the embodiment of boiled rice and extreme poverty has the expression of complaining to themselves and relating their thoughts, and the reflection on returning favors and being aware of revered figures.
 Firstly, those poems, in terms of complaining to oneself and revealing oneself, surely exhibit Tak-mul-u-eui(託物寓意) and attribute their poverty to themselves, and verisimilarly express their own worn-out emotion by presenting their extreme poverty in tactile sensations and auditory sensations combined.
 Secondly, the poems show they’d cite Hanshin’s poetry, as one of the revered figures, due to returning favor and being aware of the revered. And, those poems also deal with those figures respected by contemporaries based on the reflected recognition for the established. Among their names are a variety of ones, such as Jamun(子文), Baekgeo-i(白居易), Wang-kyo(王喬), Beomyem(范冉), Mang-sang(孟嘗), Yugoji((庾杲之), Wang-yu(王維), and they also exhibit their recognition for surmounting their poverty through those names.
 Eating boiled rice is considered as an effort of ‘being together’ to start to open ‘Daedong World’ through traditional courtesy and ,therefore, it means not only pursuing psychological values, but also reflecting their own awareness of the hope of resembling the figures that they respected.
 This study has a surely significant meaning in regard to the poetical orientation dealing with the boiled rice and the aspects extreme poverty, and pursuing to extend the original area of Chinese poetry.
