Abstract

The leading tendencies connected with interpretation of baroque operas in the conditions of modern culture are determined. The practice of introducing historically informed performances is underlined. A number of projects aimed at redefining vocal and instrumental works of the Baroque era have been noted. The specifics of the activities of leading western ensembles, who seek to reproduce the authentic sound of baroque operas, are outlined.
