Abstract
A new manufacturing process for high quality special steels such as stainless and heat resistant steels has been accomplished by using No.2 continuous caster in Chita Plant.It is a vertical type bloom caster with round cross section, and equipped with soft reduction facilities.In addition to the effect of vertical casting, the combination of round section and soft reduction realized inner soundness like less center segregation and less looseness of cast bloom and also it in final products.Also, the effect of round section like perfect surface quality, homogeneous solidification structure and homogeneous characteristic of heating up and cooling during blooming realized the smooth rolling free from corner cracking for low hot workability grades.
