Abstract

Purpose : This study aimed to explore nurses’ caring experience for inpatients with respiratory tract diseases in hospital settings.
 Methods : This qualitative research employed focus group interviews to collect data. Two focus groups comprising of 11 nurses were interviewed from January 11 to 18, 2022.
 Results : The data analysis derived two theme clusters and six sub-themes. The two main themes from the analysis were ‘Pay close attention and deal with sensitively to changes in the patient's condition’ and ‘Continuous efforts to enhance respiratory patient care capacity’.
 Conclusion : This study provides valuable insights that can contribute to the development of education programs and policies aimed at enhancing the competency of clinical nurses and nursing students in caring for respiratory patients.
