Abstract

The second part of the study, devoted to the decree of the Egyptian priests, adopted in Memphis in 196 BC. Parallels and major differences of three text versions: hieroglyphic, Demotic and Greek, are discussed. Variation in introducing toponyms is defined; specifics in referring to the three writing systems in ancient times are indicated; different implications in introducing Ptolemy’s V name and his epitheta are analyzed. Two improvements for the hieroglyphic text edited by K. Sethe (stela Nebireh, lines 21-22) are made; a new interpretation of the disputable word in the Demotic version of the Rosetta stone, line 28 proposed as a preposition.
