Abstract

Clinical evaluation of aspoxicillin (ASPC, TA-058) in various infections in the fi eld of oral surgery were carried out.Aspoxicillin was administered to 68 patients with various infections. Aspoxicillin was administered by intravenous injection or intramuscular injection at a daily dose of 2g (1g×2 times).The following results were obtained:Cases consisted of 40 with maxillary ostitis, 9 phlegmon of the floor of the mouth, 9 pencoronitis, 4 odontogenic maxillary sinuitis, 1 post operative maxillary cyst, 3 buccal abscess, 1 peritonsillitis and 1 gingival abscess. The evaluation was made with 68 cases.The clinical effects obtained in subjective judgement were excellent in 34 cases, good in29, fair in 2 and poor in 3. The clinical effects obtained in judgement by point were classified as excellent in 33 cases, good in 31 and poor in 4.Effective rate in subjective judgement was 92.7%. Effective rate in judgement by point was 94.1%.This medicine turned out effective in intravenous as well as intramuscular injections.Side effect in one case was facial edematous sensation.The elevation of s-GOT, s-GPT was observed after aspoxicillin administration in 4 cases in the laboratory examinations.The results indicated the usefulness of aspoxicillin in the treatment of various infections in the field of oral surgery.
