Abstract

This study examines how frequently the keyword ‘literary boundary (novel boundary)’ was used from 1990 to 2023. Here, we received help from Big Kinds, a big data analysis service.
「Geumoh-sinhwa」, whenever the main character encounters a barrier in reality, he dreams of various changes in order to overcome the world at hand. In the work, the world that the protagonist longs for uses a deadlock format in the stage of encounter and a regression form in the stage of separation. 「Guunmong」, By setting the idea of a dream into another virtual world, the desires and ideals of noblemen who were alienated from the real world were expressed.
In both novels, virtual space serves as a fantasy space where things can't be done in reality. It is similar to the current metaverse space. The properties are not mutually exclusive. Because they are closely intertwined with each other.
