Abstract

The main purpose for this study is to increase the sport population and to promote the sport development by attracting people to take part in sport activities continuously. For this purpose, the study tried to understand the process of the sport socialization by disclosing the relation between conflict experience and sport commitment of sport beginners. In the concrete, this study tried to examine the relation between the factors by dividing the conflict of the sport beginners into internal conflict and external conflict and by dividing the sport commitment into time, money, efforts and investment to control the other activities. Therefore, in this study, as of 2007, the total members of 312 who have been participating as members for sport clubs in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do for less than 1 year were selected. On the basis of the analysis for this result of the study, the following results can be obtained. Firstly, with regard to social-demographic variables, only the gender has a statistically significant influence on sport commitment. Age, household income and an educational background don`t have influence sport commitment. Secondly, compared with the participation in sport, the study shows that athletic events, frequency and intensity of the sport beginners have a statistically significant influence on sport commitment. Thirdly, with regard to the conflict of the sport beginners, both internal conflict and external conflict don`t have a statistically significant influence on sport commitment.
