Abstract

Using a national representative sample data collected in 2022, this article explores the current state of negative attitudes towards Korean companies in Korea and its antecedents.
This study finds that, contrary to the past survey results, respondents to the current survey are more favorable to large companies and their founders than to small and medium-sized companies and their founders. It also shows that ideological orientation, respondents’ trust in Korean social institutions, and the depth of their direct and indirect experiences in or with Korean companies significantly affect their attitudes towards Korean companies. Based on the results, implications and directions for future research are discussed.
