Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze side kick motion in Taekwondo. Seven college students who have experienced in Taekwondo more than eight years were selected in this study. The results of this study revealed as follows : 1. During the performance of side kick in Taekwondo, the time required per phase was 0.49 seconds(the first phase), 0.20 seconds(the second phase), and 0.10 seconds(the third phase). The average time for the total pace was 0.79 seconds. 2. During the performance of side kick in Taekwondo, the body center of gravity was changed to the right/left, forward/backward, and vertical direction in 24.01cm, 11.85cm, and 15.01cm. 3. During the performance of side kick in Taekwondo, the average angle of hip joint was 163.73˚(the first event), 157.83˚(the second event), 130.87˚(the third event), and 97.73˚(the fourth event). The average angle of knee joint was 175.03˚(the first event), 141.28˚(the second event), 70.50˚(the third event), and 132.30˚(the fourth event). 4. During the performance of side kick in Taekwondo, the average of angle speed in the hip joint was 54.80˚/sec(the first event), 156.42˚/sec(the second event), 434.68˚/sec(the third event), and 112.58˚/sec(the fourth event). The average angle speed of knee joint was 176.35˚/sec(the first event), 582.40˚/sec(the second event), 50.68˚/sec(the third event), and 1262.73˚/sec(the fourth event).
