Abstract
The article discusses the concept and legal nature of mining. On the basis of the legislative regulation of mining in different countries, primarily the CIS member states, the main regulatory models for the legal regulation of mining have been identified. So, according to the analysis of legislative models and the analysis of domestic sources of literature, according to the author, they are divided into groups, most of which are the qualification of mining as an entrepreneurial activity. The article substantiates the view of mining as an entrepreneurial activity and proposes its author’s definition.
