Abstract

The current research conducted a literatural review on polyvagal theory, human stress response and health maintenance utilizing breath exercise.Our research followed track of polyvagal thoery to present thorough overview of vagal nervous mechanism, relationship of breathing and vagal nerve, and the role of the vagal nervous system itself. What was especially notable was that the linkage among most recent researches on immune system cardiac system, and human stress responses were suggested to expand on the importance of vagal nerve. Necessity of empirical research on regulation of vagal nerve crucial to stress & health management is also discussed. We argue that, in order to address this need, breathing utilization among fields of exercise & sports coping should be taken into broader consideration.
