Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of the range of documentary character in the fiction texts of the English-language writers. The purpose of the study is to identify the linguistic foundations of text-building, concerning textual information, depending on the ratio of documentary and fiction in the text of a short story. The main problem is to ascertain the proportions of documentary character influencing the actual linguistic properties of a short story text. It is concluded that the inclusion of documentary character in a text affects various layers of textual information and also conditions the author’s estimates.
