Abstract

The article deals with the functioning of the creolized texts published on the cover of the British political and economic magazine. The author discusses their peculiarities conditioned by the magazine format. One obvious peculiarity is that, unlike that on the newspaper front page, the magazine-cover creolized text is distanced from the leader with which it goes. Another peculiarity is that its verbal, non-verbal components and their representative fragments are regularty used on the Contents page and with the cover story. A third peculiarity is that it integrates in it the announcement of a special report. As a re-sult it appears in the capacity of both an integrated and integrating entity. The peculiarities ensure surplus encoding, visualize connection between the creolized text and the cover story, help find and identify that story, organize communication making this process comfortable.
