Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to recognized the limitations that the current floor plan of a happy house was insufficient to accommodate the needs of residents. To solve this problem, it is meaningful to suggest the plan improvement directions of happy house by using the housing zone system of N.J. HABRAKEN, the pioneer of public rental house, about the type of happy house. Method: The order of this study is first, identified the current limitations of happy house by analyzing the satisfaction of young people’s public rental house. For this purpose, prior studies have been analyzed. Next, the N.J. HABRAKEN residential system, a pioneer of public rental house in Europe, was analyzed. To this end, the theoretical background and definitions of the residential system were organized. Finally, by applying the system of N.J. HABRAKEN to the plans of each type of happy house, we would like to suggest a plan to supplement the problems of the current happy house’s plan. The four representative planes of each type of happy house in Seoul, 16m², 26m², 36m², 44m², was selected which has the highest competitive for subscription and the policy was put into effect first since the scope of this study is limited to the inability to analyze all happy houses. Result: We applied the theory of residential systems to a plan of 16m², 26m², 36m², 44m². As a result, it is believed that the limits of the current plan can be improve. (16m² is difficult to provide the possibility of change due to the limitations of the area.) Furthermore, it is also believed that it will be able to provide a floor plan to realize the needs of each resident. by creating variable potential that is deficient in existing plan. In spite of a limit to the difficulty of transformation of kitchen and toilet due to Dutch architecture with dry construction method and Korean architecture with wet construction method, improvements can be made in a way that allows up to six plan’s variations compared to the existing ones by applying dry construction to other spaces.<BR>
