Abstract

The article considers the features of the semantics of the German stressed particles JA, DOCH and SCHON . It is shown that these particles have a common property - they can create contrast. The distinctive characteristics of these particles are traced when analyzing them in the system of syntagmatic links and relations. The stressed particle DOCH expresses disagreement of the speaker with the interlocutor’s position or indicates contradiction. The stressed particle JA is characteristic for directive statements. The stressed particle SCHON adds meanings to the utterance, such as “yes, however...”, and participates in adversative relations transfer.
