Abstract

Historiography has provided quite a lot of assessments of the industrial reforms carried out in our country, describing both the achievements and failures of the state policy of the 1920s. However, most of these studies touch upon national processes, paying insufficient attention to regional issues. The presented study is aimed at studying the problems that characterized the development of the industrial sector of the Tatar ASSR in the 1920s and the measures taken by the Soviet government to resolve them. The historical approach is applied, the principles of historicism, objectivity and consistency are used. The result of the study was a detailed analysis of the problems of the industrial sector of the economy of the Tatar ASSR in the 1920s and the reasons that caused them. Using the example of the republic, the author highlights the general problems inherent in all republics and territories of the country, as well as specific ones inherent in a particular republic. These difficulties were intertwined, forcing the Soviet government to make correct/incorrect decisions in a short time. The author shows the actions of the Soviet government to gradually resolve complex issues and prepare a springboard for future industrial growth.
