Abstract

The study deals with the transformation of values of the Mongolian population caused by the collapse of the Soviet Union and the growing influence of the West. The development of values among contemporary youth in Mongolia is becoming an urgent topic for an in-depth study against a backdrop of the intensified Russian-Mongolian relations in recent years, which generates the need to find future development strategies concerning the relations between two countries. The research examines the views, values, attitudes and goals of modern Mongolian youth, its perception of social processes. The social survey findings reveal the characteristics of young people’s understanding of the key categories such as democracy, equality and justice. An attempt is made to identify the nature of values of Mongolian youth, its commitment to liberal and traditional values. The author concludes that there is a mixed type of values that combines the traditional values with the liberal ones.
